ARUA. The management of Onduparaka football Club in Arua district has sacked their head coach Mr Livingston Mbabazi following a series of poor results.

The most notable was the painful first home loss last Saturday in the hands of Sports Club Villa, a thing that erased Onduparaka’s aura of invincibility at the Betway Greenlight stadium and infuriated fans.

Prior to that, the club had lost away games to Jinja Kirinya SS and Vipers and drawn with Express at home in addition to exiting the Uganda Cup after losing to Soana FC.

A statement from the club thanked the fans for their unwavering support during their good and the bad times though they said he was only stepping aside.

“Management is concerned about the recent form and performance of the club and as such, we have gathered opinions from our board, management and fans and come up with measures that will aim the team back on track”

“In light of the above, the management has asked its head coach Mr Livingston Mbabazi to step aside with immediate effect from the UPL match day 21 clash with UPDF until further notice” the statement reads in part.

The news of his sacking was received with mixed reactions on social media. While some people welcomed the decision as a relief, others were not happy that Mr Mbabazi was sacrificed for the general decline in form of majority of the players.

“Onduparaka Fc has a proud history and tradition of excellence. Our goal above all, is to ensure we have a team that our supporters can be proud of, we ask for your patience and cooperation as we work to improve and manage the current performance challenges” the one page statement reads in part.

In his absence, caretaker managers have been appointed lead by the technical director Mr Leo Adraa, Simeon Masaba, the goal keeping coach Mr Moses Oloya, Morris Adiga and Ramathan Musema.

The game at Bombo army barracks with UPDF ended in a stalemate as no team could find each other’s back of the net but fans were relieved that they got a point.
