ARUA. The Bishop of Madi and West Nile diocese, Rt. Rev Charles Collins Andaku has advised Christians to stop using Coronavirus pandemic as an excuse for not worshiping God and doing any work.

He instead appealed to Christians to always worship God for He is at all times and in all seasons.

Andaku made the remarks during his first major confirmation service since the lock down of houses of worship due to the Covid-19 pandemic were eased at St. Peter’s Awindiri Church in Arua Urban Archdeaconry on Sunday. He confirmed a total of 58 persons into Christianity.

During the mass, Bishop Andaku urged the Church in Madi and West Nile diocese to grow up to the extent of preparing and sending Christians as missionaries to win souls for Christ in areas that have not yet been saturated with the gospel of Christ.

He encouraged people to find ways of continuing with developmental projects in their churches inspite of the pandemic. He also asked people to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) being given by the government through the Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile Ms Jane Andaku, the wife to the Bishop who doubles as the Head Teacher of Arua Demonstration School called upon Christians to work as a team. She asked people to be prayerful, work diligently to serve God and humanity.

Venerable Canon Fanuel Onzima, the Archdeacon of Arua Urban Archdeaconry commended the Christians of Awindiri Parish for cooperating well with their Parish Priest and for putting up a befitting permanent residential house for the clergy at the Church.

He said due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Bishop will only conduct scientific confirmation services in four Parishes within the Archdeaconry this year.
