NEBBI. The police in Nebbi have arrested a 44-year-old woman for allegedly defiling a 5-year-old boy.

The suspect, a resident of Rajom village, Erussi Sub-county, Nebbi district according to an eye witness on Monday morning asked the minor to stroll with her to the nearby water source when she wooed him into sex with her.

When they got back home, the little boy narrated what had happened between him and the suspect to his mother who later informed other members of the community who all turned rowdy and wanted to lynch the suspect.

She was rescued by police and transferred to Nebbi central police station.

The officer in charge of criminal investigations department (CID) Nebbi central police Mr Nicolas Natajja who confirmed the incident while addressing journalist said locals wanted to lynch the suspect.

“We are investigating the case but at the moment she will remain in custody for her own safety and we will take her to court when court resumes on charge of aggravated defilement”, he said.

In a related incident, a 30 year old man, a resident of Abindu division in Nebbi municipality has also been arrested for allegedly defiling his 7 year old daughter.

It is alleged that on Sunday, when the mother of the girl had gone to the market, the father took advantage of her absence and wooed his own daughter to enter her mother’s bed room and he allegedly defiled her.

Upon committing the act, the father left home to a nearby trading centre and when his wife returned, her daughter narrated to her how her father had defiled her who later took the matter to the LC 1 chairperson who mobilized the community.

The community immediately mounted a search and arrested the suspect whom they handed over to police.

Natajja who condemned the acts said they were the first of its kind and cautioned parents, relatives and guardians against such acts he termed as satanic. He said parents and adults should instead take care and protect minors
