PAKWACH. The Bishop of Nebbi Catholic diocese Rt. Rev. Raphael p’Mony Wokorach has beseeched Christians to exhibit courage in their various vocations without which he says no vocation succeeds.

Bishop Wokorach said lack of courage to discern and embrace vocations has led to the demise of a number of fruitful vocations in marriage, priesthood and the religious among others.

The Ordinary made the remark in a sermon during his thanksgiving mass for his episcopal consecration held on Saturday in Wadelai parish.

“In the year 1993, we gathered in this place for my priestly ordination and I would like us to celebrate this day for accepting God’s callings in all spheres of our vocations and let us thank God for this day,” he said.

He commended his predecessors especially His Grace John Baptist Odama who laid the foundation of the diocese, Bishop Emeritus Martin Luluga, Rt. Rev. Sanctus Linus Wanok and Msgr. Emanuel Odaga, priests, religious, catechists and the laity for fostering unity in the local church.

“You are my dear co-workers in the ministry. I treasure you and count on your support. I pray that the fire of love to be in the ministry may continue to burn so that the zeal and the passion for the service of the people of God in our diocese may really show the presence of God in our midst,” he said.

The bishop, as scribed in his moto; service with humility said humility should take center stage in the service of the people without taking the path that brings shame upon the people of God.

He said there is no blessing in pride because it is devoid of humility and urged the people to live in line with their calling.

He also made a passionate appeal to the government leaders to think of improving the badly damaged feeder roads in a bid to facilitate easy movements of goods and services.

“If you were to move on our feeder roads, you would know what I’m talking about. It is therefore important that you also work around improving the road network as the government takes on mega projects,” He urged.

The thanksgiving mass was attended by a number of invited guests including the religious, political and cultural leaders.

Mr Lawrence Biyika Songa, the Member of parliament Ora county and the chairperson West Nile parliamentary caucus assured the congregants that the local leaders are agitating for the upgrade of at least 3 different road networks in their priority.

Songa revealed the roads include; Nebbi-Zombo-Vurra road, Panyimur-Akworo-Parombo-Erussi-Goli road and Pakwach-Wadelai-Rhino camp-Dufule road.

“The government has a number of development projects like the ongoing power extension to the region and urged the people to take advantage of such projects to improve their livelihood,” he said.

Rt Rev Raphael p’Mony Wokorach, the 4th Bishop of Nebbi Catholic diocese, was consecrated on 14th August 2021 at Nebbi Cathedral 3 years after the seat for the Ordinary of the diocese fell vacant after the transfer of the then Rt Rev Sanctus Linus Wanok to Lira diocese.
